Quick update!

I have a couple other blogs in progress, but I thought I'd go ahead and post this first. I have put a temporary background on the blog to help announce that we are expecting a third little boy! As much fun as it sounds to have a little girl, I am very happy to be having another boy. I love watching Jackson and Colin grow up together and play together, and now there will be three. I love that they will have each other throughout their lives, there's nothing quite like brothers. Hooray for little boys!

Green Thumbs

We've (Jared and I) have been talking about starting a garden this year since we moved into the new house. And after watching Food Inc., it just further reinforced the idea for us. My family had gardens every year for latter part of my childhood. Though it was a good experience, it was something that we were usually expected to help maintain. So, a few weeks ago, my mom and I drove , forever, to go pick up an old tiller that I found on craigslist. A few days later, I tried my hand at it. It needed a new belt, so Jared fixed it and finished tilling the area that I had marked off to be the garden. There was a little lag in the whole process for a couple of weeks due to lack of energy, but my mom came by a few days ago and thought she'd try out the tiller. She actually re tilled the entire garden for me. So, I decided to spend several hours outside yesterday with the boys cleaning out the garden and getting it ready to plant. They loved playing in the cool dirt and throwing it everywhere.

I knew it was supposed to rain today, so I wanted to get some seeds in the ground before the rain. I got the garden cleaned, the rows made, and the onions planted last night before dinner. Then today, after the first rain I planted the peppers and squash.

I have two rows left, and am thinking tomatoes, peas, and cantaloupes.

I also wanted to post a picture of the biggest grub worm I've ever seen. I found him yesterday while digging around. A grub worm is the larva of a beetle, but I've always been taught to stomp them because they're bad for the plants. This one was almost to big to stomp.

This is video of the same worm. I had no idea that they moved around this way, and it grossed me out!

And I also wanted to include a picture of the accident I had last night. I was walking into the living room, and snagged my little toe on the foot of the couch. This is what it looks like today.

Heather, I thought you’d appreciate this…
